Brand Story

Brand Story

Thandi Yaadein (than-dee ya-day), meaning “Cool Memories” in Hindi, is a brand I created to share the flavors and memories of India through packaging. Growing up in the U.S., I didn’t just miss the food—I missed the feeling of home. The brand invites everyone to experience that warmth through every bite, from vibrant street food to family gatherings and quiet moments of reflection.

Flavors & Color Palette

The ice cream and kulfi flavors are based on fruits commonly found in India: Jamun, Sitaphal, Amrud, and Chikoo. Each fruit informed its own color palette, allowing the packaging to create a vibrant yet organized flavor system across the product line.

Flavor Names

The flavor names draw from the playful storytelling found in Indian truck art. Using alliteration, each name brings a sense of rhythm, character, and memorability, turning familiar fruits into expressive, personality-driven moments within the system.

Kulfi

Process

Kulfi packaging is often discarded after opening, and the dessert melts quickly, making it messy to eat. Responding to this experience, the packaging includes perforations near the base that allow it to tear open into a bowl-like form, catching the melting kulfi.
